Hello, welcome to my website

I’m Cydney Hayes, a writer and journalist based in San Francisco.

I am currently on staff at Gazetteer SF as a tech and business reporter, where I have covered the underground economy of gig workers who sell their biometric data to train AI models, the wave of young and hyper-online tech founders converting to Catholicism, the network state movement, the resurgence of print media, and more.

In 2025, my article “In Between Gods, Looking for Work,” on The Commons SF and AI discussion clubs in Hayes Valley, received a feature writing award from the SF Press Club.

Previously, I’ve covered nightlife, music, film, and video games. My work has appeared in The Drift, Architectural Digest, Baltimore, Entertainment Weekly, and elsewhere.

A black and white photograph featuring two women and part of a man. The woman on the left has curly hair, a nose piercing, and is smiling. The woman on the right has straight hair with bangs, and her face is partially visible. The man is wearing a suit with a collared shirt underneath, and his face is mostly cut off from the frame.
